Why Double-Cleansing is Important
Updated: Apr 8, 2020
The double-cleansing method has been a part of my skincare routine for almost 2 years now and I have no idea what I was doing without it! It doesn’t matter which skin type you are, if your are a makeup-wearer, deal with skin issues, or consider yourself to have perfect skin - you need to double cleanse!
What is it?
The most common method to double cleanse is to first wash your face with a pure oil, oil-based liquid cleanser, cleansing balm, or cleansing cloth and then follow with a regular, water-soluble cream, gel, or lotion cleanser that’s suitable for your skin type (paulaschoice.co.uk).
Why should I do it?
Double cleansing is very effective at removing makeup, sunscreen and creams. This breaks down and washes away makeup, sunscreen, dirt, pollutants, and other surface debris. It ensures that any products that you apply after cleansing, can work effectively. Continuous use of this method will help to reduce breakouts and balance sebum production.
The second cleanser should be used to address your particular skin type or concern. It should have ingredients to hydrate, smooth or exfoliate and treat acne. I have oily, acne prone skin so the cleanser that I like to use at night is the Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser. In the morning I use the Corsx Low PH Good Morning Cleanser which is a nice gentle cleanser for removing my night cream.
Recommendations for your 1st Cleanse:

Helps to dissolve any makeup or dirt on the surface of the skin. Grapeseed Oil contains high levels of fatty acids which help to hydrate the skin. You can remove it using a damp muslin cloth or just wash it off with warm water.
This rich cream is enriched with Cocoa Butter, Rosemary, chamomile and Eucalyptus. It ‘deeply cleanses to instantly remove daily grime, pollutants and make up.’ This comes with two muslin clothes which, when used damp, will help to gently exfoliate and remove the makeup/dirt.
This lightweight oil is infused with Vitamin C and nourishing Olive, Grapeseed and Rosehip oils. This highly soluble oil transforms into a milky texture upon contact with water. This oil is also boosted with Rosemary Oil, Vitamin E, and Cucumber Oil which helps to remove daily impurities.
