I drank Biomel everyday for 14 days...
Updated: Apr 8, 2020
If you follow my Instagram @vi_healthbeauty you would know that 2 weeks ago I decided to try a dairy-free probiotic drink. I was dealing with an allergic reaction which created a really bad rash all over my chest and armpit area (it was horrible).
I had read a book a year ago called The Good Skin Solution which taught me about how probiotic drinks/products can help skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne. Previous, I visited a doctor and did not see any improvement from the medicine I was prescribed. I wanted to attack the reaction internally as I had not tried that yet apart from taking antihistamine tablets and turmeric. I must mention that I also started taking L-lysine (see my last post) and started using Eumovate cream around this exact time so I do believe that everything I was taking really worked together to clear up the allergic reaction.
How do Probiotics work and why are they important?
Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts promoted as having various health benefits. They're usually added to yoghurts or taken as food supplements, and are often described as 'good' or 'friendly' bacteria.Probiotics are thought to help restore the natural balance of bacteria in your gut (including your stomach and intestines) when it's been disrupted by an illness or treatment (nhs.uk).
What is Biomel?
Biomel is a dairy-free probiotic drink with billions of live active cultures and Vitamins B6, D and calcium to support digestive and immune health.
Unlike some other probiotic drinks available, I chose to use Biomel because it is dairy-free. I normally only drink almond milk (I use this one) and try stay as far as possible from dairy because it has a bad affects on my skin and my toilet (lmao).
Here are some other reasons why I chose Biomel:
- It comes in 3 flavours (natural, vanilla and dark chocolate)
- 10x stronger than yogurt or kefir cultures
- Made with coconut milk (tastes good)
- Lasts longer than other probiotic drinks
- 100% natural
- gluten free
- lactose free
- vegan friendly
- GMO free
- Soy free
I like that it also comes in shot-size (125ml) and a much bigger size (510ml). As you can see in the picture above, I chose the shot size because it was very convenient and costs less. For all 14 bottles I paid around £16 which isn't bad at all. The drinks have a shelf life of 18+ days. I really liked the dark chocolate flavour, I wasn't able to try any of the others because Sainsbury's didn't have them in stock so next time I may give the vanilla flavour a try.
Within a week, the rash cleared up dramatically. Like I said, I was taking the L-Lysine and the Eumovate alongside these probiotic drinks but I definitely believe that it played a big role in the recovery of my skin. I even saw a difference in the quality of the skin on my face. It was clearer, I didn't experience many breakouts while taking it. I will definitely buy Biomel again, it has made me more conscious of the affect that my gut and immune system has on my overall health.
