Why Colon Cleanses are important...
Updated: Oct 27, 2018
Today we are talking about cleansing our colons. I'm sure you have heard about colon cleanses before but do you know what it is and why it is important?
What is a Colon?
The colon is part of the large intestine, the final part of the digestive system. Its function is to reabsorb fluids and process waste products from the body and prepare for its elimination (healthline.com).
Why should your colon be cleansed?
Poisonous "toxins" get into the body from the food you eat, the water you drink, and the environment you live and work in. Toxins of particular concern include lead from toys, mercury in fish, pesticides used to grow food, and bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical often used in plastics – from water bottles to food packaging. Proponents of colon cleanses believe that removing those toxins, normal bacteria, and stool from the colon can help you feel better and improve your body function (everydayhealth.com).
Types of Colon Cleanses?
First I will start with the traditional irrigation colon cleanse. This type Colonic irrigation is also known as hydrotherapy of the colon, high colonic, entero-lavage, or simply colonic. It is the process of cleansing the colon by passing several gallons of water through it with the use of special equipment. It issimilar to an enema but treats the whole colon, not just the lower bowel. This has the effect of flushing out impacted fecal matter, toxins, mucous, and even parasites, that often build up over the passage of time. It is a procedure that should onlybe undertaken by a qualified practitioner. It is basically the practice of injecting water via the anus to flush out the colon, used as a therapeutic treatment. Once the procedure is completed, the client sits on a toilet for several minutes until a full evacuation of the bowel is completed. The entire session generally takes approximately 45 minutes.
However, this type of colon cleanse has two main risks. These side effects include potentially fatal electrolyte imbalances and perforations (a hole) of the colon during the insertion of the colonic tube.
The second way that you can cleanse your colon is through the use of supplements, teas, powders and natural laxatives. I wanted to cleanse my colon is the safest way so I decided to take supplements. The one that I decided to take is the Lindens Aloe Vera Leaf Juice supplement. I chose this one because it is natural, cheap and had great reviews on Amazon.
Through taking these colonics I have noticed a big difference in bloating and I genuinely feel lighter because of the waste in my colon is being cleaned out. Here are some signs that will show you if your colon is clogged up and you are in need of a cleanse:
- loss of appetite
- abdominal pain that comes and goes
- swelling of the abdomen
- severe bloating
- inability to pass gas
