5 Holistic Remedies To Boost Your Immune System (COVID-19)

In light of the current Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) that is spreading worldwide, this is a necessary time to shed light on effective and inexpensive holistic remedies. Each of these will successfully help to boost immune health during this time as long as they are taken on a daily basis. I have mentioned five different remedies due to the possible variety of health issues.

LIME WATER (boiled)

Warm lime water works best on an empty stomach so I would recommend you to take this first thing every morning at least 30 minutes before eating. I normally squeeze one whole lime into a tea cup and then add boiling water to it. I stir and let it cool down a little before drinking.

BLACK SEED OIL (liquid or capsule)

I’ve only recently started to take Black Seed Oil, I have tried the liquid but prefer the capsules. Black Seed Oil has been on my radar for years but for some reason I never went ahead and purchased it. However, I’ve heard glowing reviews from people I know that use it and also many people online.


Black seed oil is extracted from the seeds of Nigella sativa, a plant native to southwest Asia. The black seeds are slightly bitter and sometimes used as a flavoring or spice in Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine. The amber-hued oil is also used in cooking and is said to offer a range of health benefits. (verywellhealth.com)

IRISH SEA MOSS

Irish Sea Moss is not a stranger to me. My husband is Jamaican, he has been taking it since 12 years old with milk and sugar. Over the past 5 years he has been taking it in its purest form regularly and since we have been married he is always praising it for the variety of health benefits. He hardly gets sick and has a very strong immune system so advice from him is always noted. I’ve tried sea moss multiple times but have not been consistent with it so I cannot say that I have seen a dramatic change in my health. However, like the black seed oil, I have heard great testimonials from family/friends. I have also read glowing online reviews so I know that it works!


Sea moss is a type of red algae that grows on the Atlantic coastlines of North America, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. Since the 1800s, the Irish have been harvesting it from their rocky shores to use as medicine. They even used it to get the nutrients they needed during times of famine. Jamaicans have also traditionally used sea moss to treat illness, and some have touted it to be the perfect elixir to increase male libido. Unfortunately, there's no scientific proof for the latter. GINGER, LEMON, GARLIC, RAW HONEY & CAYENNE PEPPER (blended or boiled)

This is a favourite that has been passed down through my family. We prefer to blend these ingredients together so the consistency is like a runny paste. When I have the flu or I am dealing with congestion this concoction always cures me. I take one tablespoon a day while sick. It has a spicy taste due to the ginger and cayenne pepper.


Ginger and Garlic are both decongestants and have anti-inflammatory properties therefore they are effective in getting rid of mucus within the body.


Lemon boosts the immune system, detoxes the body and aids metabolism. It boosts digestion, cleanses the liver, kidney and blood.


Cayenne pepper boosts the metabolism and aids in digestive health.


Raw honey has a good source of antioxidants, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is also effective in soothing sore throats and helping with digestive issues.



GINGER & LIME (blended or boiled)

I have spoken about the benefits of both Ginger and Lime above but I would definetely recommend combining the two and taking them together. This is a strong and effective shot that you can take daily.
